The Democratic People’s Front denied reports that its member and parliamentarian Prabha Ganeshan had extended his support to the government after a meeting with President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees today (5).
Dr. Nalliah Kumaraguruparan General Secretary of the DPF told The Sunday leader a short while ago that Prabha Ganeshn had met the President in the morning to discuss the proposed constitutional amendments and the re-demarcation proposal.
“He went for a discussion with the President and that was all. At the end of the discussion he had shaken hands with the President. That does not mean he has agreed to extend his support,” he said.
Dr. Kumaraguruparan said that party leader Mano Ganeshan who is currently overseas had also denied any such move and said the party would not join or support the government.
“Prabha would never betray the Tamil people and go against the mandate given to him,” he observed.
The DPF contested the last general election under the UNP banner.
