The indictments in the HiCorp financial fraud have been filed against former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka and a Director of the Hicorp company Wellington De Hoedt.
The indictments were filed on 21 counts before High Court Judge Sunil Rajapaksa. Former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka who is being held at the Naval Headquarters was produced before the High Court today. The indictments were served thereafter. The case will come up for hearing on 30th this month.
State Counsel Damith Totawatta making submissions said that the son-in-law of the first accused Danuna Tillakeratne is absconding. Therefore he requested for permission to carryout a hearing without his presence. High Court Judge allowing his request decided to hear the evidence on the next trial day.
The Attorney General has filed the case against Sarath Fonseka for attempting to defraud 300 thousand US Dollars belonging to the Sri Lankan Army and criminal breach of trust. The High Court judge ordered to obtain fingerprints of the two accused and present a report.
