Solutions have been found to many problems of the fisherman at Lunugamvehera in Hambantota following the mediation of Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa.
The fisher fraternity of the area was staging a protest demanding the release of two of their colleagues who were apprehended by Wildlife Officials. Parliamentarian Rajapaksa adverted attention to the problems of the fishermen. Accordingly a special representative of the Parliamentarian had a special discussion with the Wildlife Director General in charge of the Southern, Northwestern and Sabaragamuwa Provinces. As a result of the conversation, agreement was reached to release the two fishermen in custody, relax restrictions imposed on fishermen, issue permit to members of Fisheries Societies and issue identity cards to Wildlife Conservation Department.
