Artistes are being afforded an opportunity of contributing the Employees Trust Fund (ETF).
Earlier, those engaged in self-employment were granted the opportunity of contributing to the Fund. The Ministry of Finance and Planning has now permitted artistes to do so. Artistes can become contributors by making a monthly payment of not less than 200 rupees. Accordingly they will enjoy all facilities granted to ETF members. The aim of this effort is to ensure recognition to their profession while assuring their security. A gathering to educate the artistes in this respect was organized in Colombo today. It was presided by Chairman of the Employees Trust Fund Board K.M.A. Godawatte. The artistes expressed their gratitude to the Government for taking such an initiative.
