A comprehensive programme will be launched to improve the health sector in the Eastern Province. The Government has taken measures to development the Kattankudy Hospital in parallel to this programme.
The Kattankudy Regional Hospital is one of the leading hospitals in the Eastern Province. It is frequented by a large number of people of the area. Development activities were carried out at the Hospital last year, in parallel to the Eastern Resurgence Programme. Several buildings were constructed at a cost of 450 million rupees. Health equipment worth about 200 million rupees has also been given to the Hospital. A notable feature is the construction of the buildings of the Hospital in an environmental friendly atmosphere.
Minister Maithripala Sirisena visited to the Hospital to inquire into the future development that should be carried out at the Hospital. The Minister during the visit referred to the massive development undertaken by the Government in the Eastern Province and that everyone should visit the area to have a glimpse of the development that is taking place within the Province.
