President Mahinda Rajapaksa today (9) appointed a one-member Special Presidential Commission to inquire into the death of Ruhuna University student Susantha Bandara.
The President’s Media Unit said that Retired Supreme Court Judge Jagath Balapatabendi has been appointed for the task by the President.
The Commission inquire into allegations leveled against those allegedly responsible for Bandara’s death.
The university students’ university has accused the police for being responsible for Bandara’s death. The Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) has said that Bandara died due to complications caused by head injuries received by him from being assaulted by the Matara Police.
