The inaugural Youth Olympic Games the biggest youth sports extravaganza,will be the the best opportunity for the youth to shine at a global sporting event, which will be declared open in three days time at the Marina Bay Float in Singapore.
The 3600 young athletes from 204 National Olympic Committees will vie for honors at eighteen venues, there will be seven athletes carrying the pride of the Lion’s Flag representing Sri Lanka.
The Lankan contingent led by the swimming sensation who hails from the Hill Capital – is Trinitian Heshan Unamboowe, who will be looking for the best they can give. consists of two paddlers, two swimmers, two shuttlers, one athlete, two coaches and a masseur along with a Lady Chaperon and the Chef de Mission.
The NOC Assistant Secretary and the Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka Secretary Nishantha Piyasena who did a fine job as the Chef de Mission at the last year’s Asian Youth Games which was also held in Singapore, will be repeating his job at the Youth Olympics.
