Hootie and the Blowfish are continuing their efforts to make sure low-income South Carolina students have what they need to start school.
The band members are in Charleston on Wednesday for their annual Homegrown Roundup.
At the event, school supplies and services ranging from haircuts and dental exams to eye exams are being provided to as many as 1,300 local students.
The event is funded by the band's annual homegrown concert staged each year at the Family Circle Tennis stadium on Daniel Island.
The band started the effort back in 2003 because of budget cuts in education. At that first concert, a 55-foot school bus was filled to the top with school supplies.
