Remains of Police officers brought to their residences

The remains of the Police officers who were killed in a road accident have been brought to their residences.

OIC of the Kalawana Police Sarath Gamhewa, Sub Inspector Y.A. Gunapala and Sergeant Upul Sirimanne were killed in the accident. The accident occurred when the jeep in which they were traveling skidded off the road and fell into Kukule Ganga from the Koswatta bridge. Police Sergeant Thushara who swam to safety has been saved. The jeep which met with the accident was recovered this morning. The remains of the OIC were taken to his home at Nupe in Matara. A father of three, he was 47 years at the time of his demise. Sub Inspector Y.A. Gunapala is a resident of Veddhagala. Sergeant Upul Sirimana is a resident of Kiriella and a father of two. He was 48 years at the time of his death.
