A building is being constructed for the use of Cancer patients who come for treatment at the Maharagama Cancer hospital from remote areas.
Thousands of patients are arriving at the Maharagama National Cancer hospital for treatment daily. A large number of people come from distant areas such as Anuradhapura, Moneragala and Mahiyangana. These patients have to undergo numerous difficulties due to the unavailability of a place to stay. The Welfare Service centre maintained by the Welfare Society for patients of the Maharagama Cancer Hospital does not have adequate space to meet the demand. Parliamentarian Duminda Silva has offered to construct a three-storied building for this purpose. He donated the funds to Ven. Veganthale Sivali Thera, the incumbent of the Welfare Centre.
