The French Government has pledged support for the development of 50 large scale bridges in the North and the East.
French Ambassador to Sri Lanka Christine Robichon said they planned to launch the relevant work in the next few days. She gave this assurance during a meeting with Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne. The French diplomat said that Sri Lanka has embarked on an accelerated development programme and emphasized that her country was willing to become a main stakeholder of the effort. The Prime Minister appreciated the support given by the French Government to development in various parts of the country, including the North and the East.
