Authorities say two women whose burned bodies were found at two fires in South Carolina were killed before they were burned.
Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton told multiple media outlets that both women died from suffocation.
The bodies were found late Wednesday night. Authorities say one woman around 70 years old was found inside a burning house in Aiken.
Another woman between 25 and 35 years old was found in a fire in a wooded area in Clearwater. The women have not been identified, but authorities say the cases are connected.
They say the fires were set to cover up the deaths.
