The Public Service United Nurses Union has emphasized that its members will not support a Nurses strike planned for by several bankrupt trade unions with the intention of causing difficulties to the public.
Its President, the Ven. Muruttettuwe Ananda thera said his Union will not be involved in the strike which is said to be staged on Monday. The Ven. Ananda thera pointed out that they will not extend any support to the work stoppage following the mediation of the Health Minister. They had been able to witness an end to the shortcomings in hospitals. He talked with them to solve the problems of the nurses. He urged the members of the union if they are influenced by anyone to join in the strike planned for Monday to refrain from supporting it. He underlined with responsibility that his union had not organized any work stoppage.
