Columbia water customers along a stretch of Monticello Road and west to the Broad River are advised to boil their water until further notice following a water-line break.
Columbia Water Works said the line break near Monticello Road could allow contamination of water going to customers along Monticello Road from Duke Avenue to Heyward Brockington Road and areas west of Monticello to the river.
The area includes the neighborhoods of Blue Ridge Terrace, Crane Forest, Yorkshire Farms, Denny Terrace, Ridgewood, Haskell Heights, Pine Forest, Barony Woods, Eau Clair, Columbia International and Ben Lippen School.
The advisory also extends to customers near the area described above who have experienced a loss of water or water pressure.
Customers should boil water intended for cooking, drinking or ice making vigorously for one full minute prior to using.
