A program to upload birth, death and marriage certificates to the Internet is in progress as a pilot scale project in the Colombo District, Deputy Registrar General Sathasiva Iyer said.
He was addressing a residential workshop for media on "Equal Access to Justice" at Villa Ocean View Hotel, Wadduwa last week.
"Under this e-registration program, the birth, death and marriage certificates are scanned, and stored in the Lanka Government Network.
This network is connected with the Motor Vehicles Department, Emigration and Immigration Department and other Government departments, which require these documents. We have selected 11 areas with high population density to be included into this project.
