A New York resident charged in the 1992 slaying of a sailor in South Carolina is back in the state.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported 53-year-old Thomas Solheim of Montauk, N.Y., appeared before a magistrate in Moncks Coroner on Tuesday. Solheim remains in custody after the magistrate told him only a circuit judge may set bond on a murder charge.
Solheim and three others - a California man, a Montana resident and a woman from Goose Creek - are charged in the death of 22-year-old James Horton. Horton was found in 1992 in a ditch with his hands tied behind his back with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Solheim's attorney, Breen Stevens, told the magistrate his client has medical needs but would not comment later on Solheim's medical condition.
