A 58-year-old New Jersey man was sentenced today in federal court in Spartanburg to five years in prison on cocaine charges.
According to facts established at a hearing before United States District Judge Henry F. Floyd of Spartanburg, Juan Demetrious Joshua was transporting two kilos of cocaine "with intent to distribute, when he was nabbed in a traffic stop on August 9, 2009 in Abbeville County.
The drugs were found hidden under the backseat of the Lincoln Navigator the Mays Landing, New Jersey, man was driving.
According to a press release from U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles, Joshua admitted he bought the drugs in Atlanta where he had been attending a bike rally. He told the deputies at the time of the traffic stop that he was driving home to New Jersey.
