Critics who know nothing about sport stoop low

Namal Rajapaksa’s right to play for a club of his choice seemed to have upset a weekend Sinhalese language newspaper (not of ANCL) published last Sunday, who made it a big issue on the parliamentarian representing Navy Sports Club and the Combined Defence Services team in the recently concluded domestic rugby season. It also reported that both Namal and his younger brother Rohitha could not represent Navy SC. The article, which contained obvious malicious material, went to the extreme of questioning whether Namal Rajapaksa could continue to be a Member of Parliament, simply because he represented Navy SC in rugby. Even those critics would accept the fact that Namal is a versatile sportsman who had captained S.Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia and Sri Lanka Youth team with distinction.
