Democratic National Alliance (DNA) parliamentarian Sarath Fonseka told parliament today (20) that his parliamentary privileges have been breached again.
Fonskea said that he was prevented from attending the Parliamentary Consultative Committee meeting of the Defence Ministry held yesterday (19), which was chaired by President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The meeting was held at the parliamentary complex.
Fonseka told parliament that he was a member of this committee, but was unable to attend the meeting since the military officers had not brought him to parliament on time.
He observed that the military officers had attributed the delay to an order received from a higher authority.
Fonseka was previously prevented from attending consultative committee meetings in parliament and raised a privileges issue in parliament at the time.
Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa then ruled that Fonseka be permitted to attend consultative committee meetings in parliament.
