Prime Minister D.M.Jayaratne has stressed the need for a programme to develop the export and local production sectors. He said the Government is geared to extend all the required facilities.
The Prime Minister was the Chief Guest at the opening of the International Exhibition on processed food, packaging and agricultural crops. The Exhibition which kicked off at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Exhibition and Convention Hall today will continue until Sunday.
Further giving his views, the Prime Minister said that the country was losing a colossal sum in foreign exchange due to the import of food which could be produced in the country.
The Exhibition is being organized by the National Agricultural Enterprise Federation. A vast knowledge on agricultural production, packaging and equipment can be obtained by visiting the Exhibition. The Exhibition is open from 8.30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Among those present at the opening of the Exhibition was Minister Rishard Bathiyuideen.
