South Carolina football player Quintin Richardson has been suspended indefinitely while officials investigate a claim the offensive tackle assaulted his girlfriend last week in the parking lot of Williams-Brice Stadium.
Tina Dan, a 20-year-old USC student, told campus police that Richardson assaulted her outside the stadium at 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 10, according to an incident report.
Richardson, a 6-foot-4, 290-pound junior from Columbia, had left the scene by the time officers arrived. Dan, listed on the report as 5-4 and 112 pounds, declined medical treatment.
The incident report indicates police planned to conduct a follow-up investigation, and the case is listed as active.
USC coach Steve Spurrier said Richardson has been suspended indefinitely since the coaching staff learned of the incident last week. Spurrier said officials were still sorting out the facts.
