Sri Lanka’s CB Governor came three times to the bond issuing room: Anura Kumara

- LBO.com

June 29, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s Central Bank Governor has come to the bond issuing room three times though he is not intended to come, leader of the Marxist JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayaka said.

“The COPE committee which comprised of JVP Parliamentarian Sunil Handunneththi questioned each and every official and they have given oral answers,”

“Arjuna Mahendran has come to the room three times that issued controversial bonds; Central Bank Governor has no authority to come to that room. But he has been there.” Dissanayaka told a public gathering.

Criticizing the government’s conduct over the recent bond issue investigation, Dissanayaka asked Prime Minister not to hide the findings of the recent bond investigation.

The COPE report that investigated the bond issue in question has already been blocked due to the dissolution of Parliament.

“These are day light robberies. I asked Mr. Ranil in Parliament weather Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran has involved in such a fraud,”

“Mr. Ranil said former Central Bank Governor Cabraal has misappropriated 2,700 billion rupees. I asked him again weather Arjuna Mahendran has involved in the recent bond scam,”

“Ranil answered Cabraal’s cheats are the cheats. So I asked once again isn’t it a transaction involves his family. Then Ranil says Cabraal is the master thief,”

“What is this? We are asking about Arjuna Mahendran, Ranil is speaking about the Cabraal,”

“Investigate about the Cabraal too. But don’t hide about Arjuna Mahendran.” Dissanayaka further stated.

However Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran has denied any wrongdoing in the controversial Treasury bond auction.
