People of Northeastern Province sign March 12th Declaration for Clean Politics
People of the Northeastern Province placed their signatures on the March 12th Declaration on Monday, June 29), which comprises guidelines that political parties need to consider when handing over nominations.
The national programme launched to obtain one million signatures for the March 12th Declaration for Clean Politics resumed its journey on Monday from the Trincomalee town and reached the town of Muttur to obtain signatures.
Speaking to News 1st, several citizens stated that involvement in crime and corrupt activities should be given attention when choosing candidates to contest in the upcoming elections and that the opportunity should be given to those who are well educated.
Another citizen noted that a clean parliament should be established by giving nominations to only those who are virtuous.
The program is currently in effect in Kaththankudi and Batticaloa towns.
