Universities of Sri Jayewardenapura and Northern Kentucky ties up

The World Class University Project (WCUP-2014) of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, through the involvement of Prof. Ranil de Silva, initiated a joint venture between the USJP and the Northern Kentucky University with the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two universities recently.

 

A media statement issued by the USJP said that this unique achievement will provide an opening towards exchange of students, faculty members and researchers with the objective of offering courses and realizing research projects and joint publications in areas mutually agreed upon by both universities and by exchanging of undergraduate and graduate students with the objective of enrolling students in courses appropriate to their year and area of study.

 

The signing of the MOU were headed by Prof. Geoffrey S. Mearns, President of NKU and Prof Sampath Amaratunga, Vice Chancellor of the USJP; while, Ms. Sue Ott Rowlands, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, NKU, Highland Heights, USA; Ms. Sally Sternal, Representative of the U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka and Prof. Ranil de Silva Director, WCUP-2014, acted as the witness on behalf of NKU and USJP respectively.

 

This newly strengthened relationship between USJP and NKU will ultimately help elevating University’s current world ranking.

 

Northern Kentucky University is one of the fastest-growing universities in USA and serves more than 14,000 students from 41 states and 64 countries. NKU offers 60 bachelors, 12 associates and 14 graduate degree programs ranging from Anthropology to Kinesiology. NKU promises to put its students first, lead with academic excellence and strive to make a lasting impact in global higher education and through the efforts in the community ties to educational collaboration, moulding students and helping to shape and expand the ever-changing world into which they will graduate, the release further stated.
