Sri Lanka’s common opposition receives only 55 seats: Lakshman Kiriella
July 02, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s ruling United National Party predicting the results of the upcoming general election said they are targeting over 115 seats and the common opposition receives only 55 seats in the Parliament.
Former leader of the house and Plantation Industries Minister Lakshman Kiriella told reporters Thursday that they will drag most of the anti UNP votes this time.
“The common opposition will loss 40 percent of the votes that bagged by Mahinda Rajapaksa at the last Presidential election.”
Kiriella said the international investors are awaiting for the results of the Parliamentary election to help UNP development activities.
He also added that the party has already received over 16,000 applications to obtain party nominations for the upcoming election.
