SriLankan airline loss Rs4.9bn in first four months of 2015
July 2, 2015 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s state owned SriLankan airline recorded a loss of 4.9 billion rupees during the first four months of 2015, statistics shows.
This has been resulted to increase the accumulated losses of the airline to 130.9 billion rupees.
The airline reported a revenue of 39.6 billion rupees during the period, which is a 4 percent decrease over the budgeted revenue, but the total expenditure was. 44.9 billion rupees, which represented an increase of 24 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
The report says that the Government has decided to prepare a viable and comprehensive business plan for Sri Lankan Airline (SLA) and Mihin Lanka Ltd. and amalgamate these two airlines due to huge losses incurred.
“Both airlines are in the process of preparation of their business plans.” The report added.
