Thenuka Vidanagamage placed in remand custody
Thenuka Vidanagamage, a former UPFA MP who surrendered to the Mahiyanganaya Magistrate on Tuesday over an act of election violence was placed in remand custody until July 14.
The Police Media Unit stated that the former MP surrendered himself to court together with another suspect. Four suspects who were arrested on a previous occasion over the incident have been were also remanded until July 14.
This incident was reported on June 30 in Mahiyanganaya. Three persons were injured in the incident. Police said that UNP supporters were pasting notices in the Mahiyanganaya town.
Six persons were initially attacked and one of them was admitted to the Mahiyanganaya base hospital with lacerations.
