SILVER SPRING, Md. (WJLA) - A high-rise residential building in Silver Spring has had two fires in less than 72 hours, Montgomery County fire officials say.
Firefighters responded to an electrical fire Saturday night and another one Tuesday afternoon at the University Towers in the 1100 block of University Drive. The 15-story building has approximately 1,000 residents.
Pete Piringer, spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service says a fire at about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday has knocked out power.
Some people were sheltering in place, Piringer says, but others were self evacuating.
