Deadline for submission of assets and liabilities statements extended up to August 05
All candidates representing Political parties contesting the forthcoming general election must submit statements of assets and liabilities on or before August 05, the Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya said in a statement.
The deadline given earlier for submission of assets and liabilities has been extended in order to avoid difficulties that will be encountered by the candidates who send in their applications through post due to a poya holiday falling on July 31 and August 1 and 2 being a weekend.. Accordingly candidates representing all political parties should submit their Statements of Assets and Liabilities on or before August 05, the Commissioner has stated.
Deshapriya has pointed out that the deadline was extended as per a decision taken at a meeting held with political party representatives on 28th July 2015.
