SL expects friendly nations to help rescue farmers from kidney disease: President
Speaking at a meeting with ambassadors in Sri Lanka at the Presidential Secretariat, President Maithripala Sirisena stated that Sri Lanka expects the support of all friendly nations in rescuing the farming community from kidney disease.
The president went on to invite the diplomats to seek the support of their respective countries for the programme to eradicate the kidney disease from Sri Lanka. He noted there are over 40,000 kidney patients in Sri Lanka and that 1,000 kidney disease-related deaths are reported each year.
President Sirisena added that the health sector and research institutions have conducted thorough research on kidney disease in Sri Lanka
