President attends Esala Poya Day events in Anuradhapura
Esala Poya commemorates several important events in the history of Buddhism including Lord Buddha’s first sermon.
In line with this important day in the Buddhist calendar, President Maithripala Sirisena attended a number of religious events in Anuradhapura on Friday.The first pooja at the restored Abhayagiri Chaitya in Anuradhapura was carried out under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena today.
The president stated that no matter where the world heads to with the development of technology, and no matter what value is given in this commercial society, there is a question in our minds as to whether there is any other teachings that will attribute in the creation of a righteous society , good people and build people to people interaction.
