Another Dengue Week
A massive operation will be in place to eliminate dengue mosquitoes countrywide during the Dengue Control Week.
The National Dengue Control Week is effective from the 7th to the 13th of this month. Heavy rain is being experienced in many parts of the country. As a result there is a danger of the spread of dengue. The aim of the Dengue Control week is to pay continuous attention to it and destroying dengue mosquito breeding grounds. Dengue mosquito breeding grounds will be monitored on the 7th while the following day is set aside for the inspection of all places of religious worship and pre-schools. A survey of houses covering the entire island will be carried out on the 9th. A thorough search of towns, villages, public burial grounds and other public places will be undertaken on the 10th. It is planned to clean all school premises at the Public Health Inspectors’ Division level of dengue mosquito breeding grounds. The Health Ministry said that barren lands will be examined on the 12th while the final day that is the 13th of this month will be devoted to searching all State and Non State establishments. The support of security sectors and health officers will be solicited for this programme.
