- newsfirst.lk

One of the men who was hospitalised after sustaining injuries during the shooting at Bloemendhal, Kotahena on Friday, has succumbed to his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Bulathsinhalage Niroshan Sampath. Thirty-six-year old Niroshan Sampath from  Grandpass, was a door to door carpet salesman.

Confirming the death to News 1st on Monday morning, the Police Media Spokesperson’s Office noted that the victim is not the person who has come to be known as Army Sampath.

Speaking at a rally held in Colpetty on Monday, UNP Colombo District Candidate Ravi Karunanayake expressed the following views on the Bloemendhal shooting, and the current situation.

He expressed the following views:

” We can see that at present, some are trying to use this to their advantage by affiliating it to the underworld. We are saddened not only because innocent children have lost a parent, but also because innocent Sampath has been labelled Army Sampath. If they are trying to associate politicians like us to the underworld then there is a problem. There is no need for the UNP to bring in such impure politics. Who can bring back the innocent woman and the innocent Sampath?”
