External Affairs Minister assures to fulfill his duties towards the country

Oct 8, 2010 6:03:59 AM - itnnews.lk

Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris has said that despite the baseless No Confidence Motions being brought against him, his duty towards the country will be fulfilled. The Minister made this statement in Parliament responding to the No Confidence Motion brought against him by the UNP.

The Minister said that it was tabled out of jealousy and hatred. It was being planned prior to four months and thereafter two months. The reasons were found later. He said that the entire country can see how ridiculous it was. Now their attempt has boomeranged. He said that he has received the high honours at the Oxford, Cambridge and London Universities. He noted that it was the result of hard work. He said that the knowledge achieved in this manner was imparted for two generations ranging from the Chief Justice to more than 50 percent of the Magistrates. However, he has never worked as hard as today under the Government led by President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Today he is happy and satisfied as his work is being appreciated and the results are evident. He said even if No Confidence Motions will be brought every week he will not be deterred.
