Sri Lanka stocks gain near 4-pct in first hour
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s stock market gained 4 percent within the first hour of trade on Tuesday (17), a day after the new Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe addressed the nation on the island nation’s ongoing economic crisis.
The main index ASPI gained 3.87 percent or 313.31 points to 8,411.72 as at 1131 hours.
The most liquid index shot up 5.27 percent to 140.31 points to 2,802.62.
Market turnover was 1.5 billion rupees.
