Chinese engineers in Sri Lanka for urgent maintenance of Norochcholai
A number of Chinese engineers are currently in Sri Lanka to carry out urgent maintenance work at the Norochcholai coal power plant.
Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said that over 400 locals and Chinese are involved in the maintenance work at Norochcholai.
He said that the maintenance work was to be carried out 2 years ago but had to be postponed because of the Covid pandemic.
Wijesekera said that the maintenance work will take approximately 75 days during which the national grid will not receive full power from the Norochcholai coal power plant.
As a result the Government has decided to prioritise fuel to generate electricity. (Colombo Gazette)
