Sri Lanka’s state-run Litro Gas to distribute cooking gas from July 06
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s state-run Litro Gas Lanka Ltd will distribute a mostly World Bank-funded liquid petroleum (LP) gas consignment from July 06, a spokesperson said.
Previously, a government statement said an initial batch of 33,000 metric tons of LP gas bought at a cost of 20 million dollars will reach Sri Lanka by the first week of July.
Litro procured 100,000 metric tons of LP gas – enough for four months – worth 90 million US dollars on June 30.
The World Bank has funded 70 million dollars and the rest was funded by the state-run company.
The consignment consists of 5 million 12.5kg cylinders, 1 million 5kg cylinders and 1 million 2.5kg cylinders and 70 percent of will be distributed for domestic use.
The remaining 30 percent will be distributed for commercial use. (Colombo/Jul01/2022)
