Sri Lanka’s guidance peg raises 55 cents despite dollar shortage
ECONOMYNEXT – A guidance peg announced by Sri Lanka’s central bank for interbank transactions edged up 33 cents to 359.55 against the US dollar on July 01 from the previous day’s 359.88.
The guidance peg is the previous day’s average interbank transaction rate, which is used as a benchmark for the following day by the central bank.
Sri Lanka commercial banks offered dollars for telegraphic transfers at rates between 366.88 and 370.00 for small transactions on July 01, unchanged from Thursday, the data showed.
Banks offered to buy inward remittances at 356.50 -359.00 rupees, the data showed.
In the secondary market, only two government securities were active in dull trade, dealers said.
A bond maturing on 01.06.2025 was quoted at 24.00/25.00 percent on Friday, up from 24.00/15 at Thursday (30) close.
The one-year bill was quoted at 24.30/25.00 percent on Friday. (Colombo/July 01/2022)
