ITN glitters at Sumathi Tele Awards Festival

Independent Television Network has been honoured with many Awards at the 15th Sumathi Tele Awards Festival.

The Tele Awards Nite was organized on a grand scale at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium last night.Organised under the patronage of the First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, the event was graced by many Parliamentarians, scholars and artistes.

“Arungal” telecast b y ITN bagged the Award for the Best Teledrama. Arungal also won several other Awards, including the best script, Best Lyrics, Best Music Direction, Best Editing and Best Vocalist.

ITN came in for acclamation for being the Channel to telecast the best teledrama.

The Most Popular Teledrama of the Year was “Ithin Eta Passe” which was also telecast by ITN Chandika Nanayakkara who played a leading role in this Popular Teledrama received the Most Popular Actor’s Award while Umayangana Wickremasinghe who also played the leading role in “Ithin Eta Passe” won the Most Popular Actress Award. . The family channel also won the award for telecasting this most popular teledrama. The U. W. Sumathipala Lifetime Memorial Award was presented to Prof. Sunil Ariyaratne and Sriyani Amarasena. Madhunika Karaputugala secured the second place in the Best News Presenting division. ITN’s News Division also received the second place for the Best News Reporting.

A.B. Lalith De Silva of ITN was honoured for the News Roundup while Ranjith Edirisinghe was feted for entertaining fans with old songs. Independent Television Network, the Most Popular Family Channel, became the outstanding the TV Channel at the Sumathi Tele Awards Festival securing Awards for many other programmes.
