The Government is mulling over the introduction of foreign Universities and Higher Technical Colleges in Sri Lanka.
Minister S.B. Dissanayake said that this would help to mould a generation armed with wide knowledge. It will also provide a new market for education in the country.
The Minister was speaking at a meeting of the Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand Business Council at Hotel Galadari. Speaking further, the Minister referred to the protests staged by undergraduates. He said this was the result of influence by unnecessary parties. He called on the University students to refrain from engaging in such protests and to continue with their studies for their betterment.
Chairman of the Sri Lanka, Australia-New Zealand Business Council and the Australian High Commissioner for Sri Lanka were present on the occasion.
