Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Duminda Silva among those summoned to Presidential Commission
Former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa arrived at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry on the morning of Thursday, September 3.
According to the Commission’s Secretary Lasil de Silva, he was summoned in order to record statements over using the staff of Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Limited during the election campaign during the last presidential election. De Silva added that statements are also being recorded from the Former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Ltd.
Politicians Duminda Silva, Rohitha Bolgollagama and Dhanasiri Amaratunga were also summoned to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry. The Presidential Commission of Inquiry which investigates and inquires into serious acts of fraud, corruption and abuse of power, state resources and privileges is located at the BMICH premises. Five judges carry out the inquiry of the commission.
The Presidential Commission of Inquiry’s General Secretary Lasil de Silva stated that nine persons including Gotabhaya Rajapaksa were summoned to the Presidential inquiry. He noted that if the recording of statements cannot be done within the day, it will be moved to tomorrow.
In addition to this former MP Duminda Silva, Mayor of Dehiwala Mount Lavinia Dhanasiri Amaratunga were also summoned to the Commission. The Former Chairman and the CEO of Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Ltd. were also summoned to the commission.
