Electricity is being generated at the maximum capacity after 14 years.
Due to heavy rains in the catchment areas, water levels of the reservoirs had increased. The sluice gates of many reservoirs have been opened. Chairman of the Electricity Board Vidya Amarapala said that due to the prevailing situation electricity is being generated at its maximum capacity.
He said all reservoirs have reached the spill level and therefore the Electricity Board is generating electricity at the Maximum capacity in its history. He said that thermal power plants are generating electricity at a minimum level. Valuable foreign exchange is being saved for the Board as well as the country as the use of oil has been minimised.
