Rupee goes down; prices of essential goods go up
The prices of 63 imported essential goods including that of 13 essential food items and medicines are going up due to the rapid decrease of the value of the rupee.
Also, the prices of all goods imported to the country are going up due to the depreciation of the rupee. This would drastically affect the prices of raw materials and chemicals imported for the garment trade.
The lives of ordinary people whose incomes have not gone up would be drastically affected due to the government’s policy to allow the rupee to be depreciated.
Economists warn that employees of the private sector, the self employed, farmers, fisher folk etc would be drastically affected due to the policy of the government.
