Tourist arrivals increased during past month – SLTDA data reveals

Latest data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority reveals that tourist arrivals to the country during the past month had increased by 36 percent.

The month of September recorded 143,374 tourists arrivals in the country, which was a 36 percent increase from the number of tourist arrivals in September 2014.

The highest number of tourists have arrived to the country from China and India. While the tourist arrivals from India has increased by 41 percent , the number of tourists arriving from China has increased by 54 percent.

In the first nine months of this year, 1,315,839 tourists visited the country, an increase of 17.1 percent compared to the 1,107,178 recorded for the same period in 2014.

The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority intends to attract a total of 20 million tourists to the country this year.
