Veteran journalist Harold Wijesinghe laid to rest
The final rites of eminent media personality, the late Harold Wijesinghe was conducted on Monday at the crematorium of the Borella Cemetery in Colombo.
The mortal remains of late Harold Wijesinghe was placed at a funeral parlour in Borella.
A large gathering including politicians, colleagues, friends and artists arrived on Monday as well to pay their last respects.
Born on January 21, 1962, Harold Wijesinghe was a product of Royal College, Colombo. Wijesinghe who was ill for sometime passed away at the age of 53.
Having commenced his professional life at the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, Harold Wijesinghe worked at the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and the Independent Television Network.
Harold Wijesinghe, who left an indelible mark in the media industry as an outstanding cameraman, producer and specialist television technician, provided a long-standing service as a Director of the MTV/MBC Broadcasting Complex.
Wijesinghe also worked as a consultant for MTV/MBC and was the owner of the Plus One Production Company.
Producing popular tele-dramas such as Nonawaruni Mahathwaruni, Yes Boss, Yes Madam which won the hearts of the public, Harold Wijesinghe also produced teledrama such as Sansara Sakmana, Sihina Wasanthaya, Adare Ahasa Tharam and programmes such as Punchi Pahe Man.
