A pre-existing heart condition most likely caused a 54-year-old Blythewood man to black out and swerve into oncoming traffic in Forest Acres Tuesday afternoon, Richland County coroner Gary Watts said today.
Kevin Crump, of Boney Road, died several hours later at Palmetto Richland Memorial, Watts said.
An ambulance had taken Crump to the hospital about 5:30 p.m., shortly after he caused a collision in the 3700 block of Forest Drive, Watts said.
An autopsy this morning revealed that Mr. Crump died from a pre-existing heart condition, and not from any trauma associated with the motor vehicle crash, Watts said.
Forest Acres Police Department continues the investigation into the crash.
