CHOGM 2015 scheduled to commence
The 2015 edition of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting is scheduled to commence on Friday, November 27.
The current Chair-In-Office of the Commonwealth is President Maithripala Sirisena.
The decision to select Malta as the host of the 2015 CHOGM Meeting was made by the heads of states who attended the 2013 edition of the meeting in Sri Lanka.
The Commonwealth comprises of 53 member nations. This includes some of the world’s largest, smallest, richest and poorest nations. The theme this year is The Commonwealth – Adding Global Value.
The theme focusses on adding global value to the Commonwealth’s strengths in international politics, which can influence, and eventually effect change on important global issues.

Malta which is an archipelago in the Central Mediterranean between Sicily and the North African coast and they are ready to commence this meeting.
He went on to note that the specialties of this year’s meeting will consist of President Sirisena, being the current Chair-In-Office. As the current General Secretary General Kamalesh Sharma would come to an end and a new individual will be appointed in his place.
He added that President Sirisena will also finish his tenure as the Chair-In-Office which will be succeeded by the PM of Malta. Explaining further, he said that a number of forums, including the women’s forum, the children’s forum, and the business forum will be held simultaneously.
In addition to this, he stated that prior to the main meeting foreign ministers from member nations will convene and discuss on various topics.
Further, Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera, as well as Minister Sagala Ratnayake will participate in this event, alongside the President of Malta, which comprises of a population of nearly half a million people, spans across 365 sq. kilometres.
Even though they are a small nation, they are gearing up for the 2015 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting with much pomp and pageantry.
