Increased demand for Sri Lankan migrant workers
The demand for Sri Lankan migrant workers is high, despite the prevailing political instability conditions in many countries in Middle-East.
The Foreign Employment Bureau said there is a sharp increase in comparison to the job opportunities received by the Bureau during the insurgency period in the region and previous months. Accordingly, Sri Lanka received 3,548 job orders which contained 47,180 vacancies from Middle-East region. It was followed by 3,221 job orders with 45,976 vacancies in February and 3,424 job orders with 49,812 vacancies in March. The Bureau pointed out that most of these job orders were from Middle-East.
