Sri Lanka seamers topple India on home soil
India failed with the bat against Sri Lanka attack on a green pitch in Pune and managed only 101 runs with R Ashwin top scoring with 31.
Kasun Rajitha, Dushmantha Chameera and Dasun Shanaka the three quicks took eight wickets for 59 between them, to blow India away for 101. Sri Lanka’s inexperienced batsmen were rarely at ease in pursuit, but did well enough to get to the target with five wickets in hand and two overs to spare.
The visitor lost its openers midway through the fifth over, but skipper Dinesh Chandimal and Chamara Kapugedara put on the highest partnership of the match and ensured that their team will fly to Ranchi with 1-0 lead.
Brought after 11 overs, off-spinner R. Ashwin captured two wickets, with Suresh Raina plucking a full-blooded sweep by Dasun Shanaka when all hopes had actually vanished for the home team.
