Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera is a suspect
Attorney General has informed Colombo Magistrates Court there is enough evidence to make Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera a suspect for illegally keeping an elephant calf.
The Attorney General has informed the CID that Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera has committed an offence under the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance and to question him accordingly.
During Rajapaksa regime elephant calves were captured from the jungles illegally and politicians, businessmen and monks kept them illegally.
An elephant calf that was kept illegally in Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera’s Allen Mathiniyaramaya at Narahenpita was seized by officers of Wildlife Department.
